The price rises from there for one reason, and it is not the one most people assume. It is the embroidery — how much of it there is, how dense it is, and how many hours of hand work it took.
Fabric matters. Silhouette matters. Neither moves the number the way embroidery does.
What you are paying for
Embroidery, first and by a distance. Two lehengas can come out of the same workroom, in the same fabric, in the same cut, and be separated by tens of thousands of rupees. The difference is hours. Hand embroidery is measured in days of a karigar's time, and a densely worked panel is not twice the work of a light one. It is many times the work.
Hand work or machine work. This is the single biggest thing separating a lehenga at ₹40,000 from one at ₹1,20,000, and it is almost invisible in a photograph. You see it when you turn the panel over. You see it again three years later, in how the piece has held.
Where it was made. We manufacture in our own atelier in Delhi. That costs more than sending the work outside. It is also why we can hold a thirty-day timeline, and why a problem found at a fitting gets fixed here rather than sent away.

What barely changes the price
Colour. Neckline. One dupatta or two.
These get discussed at length in the store and they have almost no effect on the invoice. If you are trying to bring a piece into your budget, the lever is the density of the work, not the styling.
Why a cheaper lehenga is cheaper
Because a decision was made somewhere, and you can usually find it.
Machine embroidery in place of hand. A lighter base fabric that will not carry the weight of heavy work through a long evening. Standard sizing with a quick alteration instead of a cut to your measurements.
None of this is a scandal. A machine-embroidered lehenga at ₹35,000 is honest value for a small Sangeet ceremony and I would not talk anyone out of buying one. It is simply a different object, and it is better to know which one you are buying before you buy it.
Three questions to ask in any store
Where was it made. Is the embroidery hand or machine. How many fittings are included, and what happens if it still does not fit at the last one.
